My Favs

I thought you might like to know a little about what inspires me. Here's my shortlist.

<--- Here is a figure by James Jean. I really like his colours and forms.

Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is another of my favorites. In general I've really been attracted to and influenced by the whole impressionist movement.

Renoir is another favorite impressionist. I specifically enjoy his ability to capture subjects in a way that makes them feel real. I suppose that kind of skill comes from a good sense of weight and colour/light.

I LOVE Yoshitaka Amano's work. These are the colours I dream of. My favorite pieces always include delicate forms swimming through a chaos of fine patterns.

I'm also a Ernst Haeckel fan. His scientific sketches are fantastic. Beautiful detail.

Lord Frederic Leighton had a fantastic way of making things look dramatic. This was the first painting that stirred me up (The Reconciliation of the Capulets and the Montagues). I really enjoy his portraits of women. They look spectacularly vital, with the exception of Juliet here, who is unfortunately dead.
